Welcome.
We'd love you to join us.

Our mission is to be a loving community who know Jesus and make him known in Townsville’s City.

Our church has had a ministry to the heart of Townsville City for over 140 years. Today we continue that history of proclaiming the gospel as a loving community who seek to grow as followers of Jesus and share his life-giving message with those around us.

We’d love you to join us at one of our services, join us online, or contact us for more information.

What We Believe.

We are a community of Christians who believe that the Bible is God’s word.

We are a Christian, reformed, evangelical church.

That means that we’re on about Jesus, and we believe the Bible tells us all we need in order to know him and to live for him.

We believe the Bible is God’s word and that it has been fully inspired by God.

We believe that Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.

Some frequently asked Questions

St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is full of all kinds of people from all across Townsville; young, old, singles, families, youth and kids. Everyone is welcome to come along.

At St Andrew’s we want to be a ‘loving community who know Jesus and make him known’.

We seek to do this by:

  • Trusting Jesus as our saviour and the ruler of our lives
  • Listening to and following God’s word: the Bible
  • Loving those around us deeply
  • Seeking to grow as followers of Jesus
  • Sharing the good news about Jesus to our friends, families and community

Being Presbyterian means that we are all about the Bible and the gospel of Jesus. We believe the Bible is God’s very own word to us and we believe that the good news of what Jesus has done changes everything. As Presbyterians we hold to the Westminster confession of faith as a summary of what we believe the Bible says. Find out more about what we believe.

We love having families as part of our community at St Andrew’s. We have a great Kid’s Bible Time program for primary school kids and a creche on Sunday mornings during our 10:30 service.

We have a Playgroup on Thursday mornings. Our Primary school aged kids are encouraged to go along to Explorers and Adventure Club during the week and we are also part of a combined Pressy Youth Group on Friday nights along will Willow’s and North Shore Presbyterian Churches.

All our kids and youth leaders are blue card and child safety accredited and totally committed to seeing our church be a family friendly, welcoming and safe space.

At every Sunday service we read the Bible, we pray (talk to God), we sing, we listen to someone explain the Bible, and we have morning tea together afterwards where we encourage one another and talk about life and what we heard in the service. Our 9am service is a bit more traditional with Hymns played on the organ. Our 10:30 service has a Kid’s Talk and has a more contemporary vibe. Check out our livestreamed services.

You might have heard or even said, “The roof might fall in if I ever went into church.” But one of the most fundamental truths that the Bible teaches is that everyone is a sinner. Everyone is dodgy, no one has lived up to God’s standards. As Christians we believe that we are all broken sinners whose only hope is to be saved by the free gift of God. That means that anyone and everyone can come to church, because we are all in the same boat. We don’t want to pretend that we have it all together, we are all broken messy people at varying stages on our spiritual journeys. We want everyone to come along and hear the good news that Jesus has for people like us. We promise the roof won’t collapse. Read more about the good news of Jesus.
